A base made of barges, anchored in the enemy's own river at the bottom of Vietnam.
The Navy has towed a floating base into the Cua Lon River opposite Nam Can, deep in the mangroves of the Ca Mau peninsula, where the government has not ruled in years. Hal Sayre's gunship lands on a pad on one of the barges. SEALs, swift boats, Vietnamese patrol boats and Black Pony Broncos all work from the same moorings.
This is Sáu Đước's home ground, the charcoal country where he was born, and he has come back to it. The fire team goes south after him through the tidal creeks while the barges wait to be hit. Sayre's crew has flown four campaigns together. The last one will cost them more than any of the others.
