The way out is under enemy fire.
Maddox’s platoon lands first in an empty clearing, but enemy guns cover the helicopter approach lanes.
Soft ground cannot support the planned artillery position, forcing the platoon to open two linked landing areas. A ruptured fuel bladder closes part of the zone, enemy troops threaten the connecting strip, and Rabbit Dolan leads a diversion that may leave his squad outside supporting fire. The final attack aims at the aircraft flow rather than the perimeter.
To complete the mission, First Lieutenant Cole “Buck” Maddox must seize and hold a valley airhead long enough to bring in infantry, artillery, engineers, ammunition, and fuel. Success will not restore what the fighting takes from them.
