Somewhere in the smoke, a man with an American radio is asking for help in a voice the net cannot tell from the real thing.
The Khe Sanh pullout is under way when a sister recon team goes silent on a burning ridge. Staff Sergeant Emmett Szabo and his Marines walk in and find the dead posed against the trees, the codes stripped and the radio gone.
Szabo's orders are simple: find the heavy guns before the last helicopters fly out. The guns are never where the map says. The landing zones are traps, and the enemy moves his guns the moment they are seen. Worse, headquarters may believe the stolen voice before it believes the team. In a hot wind, with the base being bulldozed into the red dirt, nobody is coming to pull them out.
