Eight rockets on the wing, a company pinned on the canal bank, and something moving in the cane.
Lieutenant Neil Cormack flies an OV-10 Bronco out of Binh Thuy with Baines in the back seat, calling every run in quarters. Scrambled to a Regional Force company pinned against the south bank of a Delta canal, Cormack takes a hit in the tail boom and learns that the ground commander is sure nothing friendly is north of the water, which is not the same as knowing.
Then a line of men starts through the sugar cane toward the canal. Cormack cannot fire at them from the north without shooting toward the friendlies, the west is shut by a hamlet whose people have not left, and every rocket he spends is one he will not have when the company has to move.
