One Huey crew, four lifts into hot ground, and a Viet Cong gunner who learns what they will come back for.
In First Lift, CW2 Ras Hovland is made flight lead for a battalion insertion into a manioc field where the smoke drifts the wrong way. In Hot LZ Company, a downed Huey sits between two pickup zones over a tunnel complex, and Ras has to decide before dark whether a machine is worth the risk. In Rotor Wash, a grass fire splits a battalion near the Cambodian border, and the only way in is a hole in the jungle with room for one ship. In Last Chalk Out, the monsoon floods the paddies, a helicopter sinks in the mud, and Ras has weeks left to keep his promise to leave no one behind.
